On behalf of the dedicated service of our long-standing Adventures in Tourism committee, we regret to inform you that this program will not be taking place in the upcoming spring of 2026.
Although our club has wholeheartedly supported this program every year, we are searching for another club member to lead the Adventures in Tourism program. At this time, there were not any volunteers available to fill this position. We continue to search for this replacement, and when we secure a leader with the capacity to spearhead AIT, the program will return.
We hope to provide this program in the spring of 2027.
What is Adventures In Tourism?
For more than 15 years now the ADVENTURES IN TOURISM program has promoted a greater level of understanding and appreciation for the value tourism represents to communities across Canada. The program promotes an understanding of the vocational opportunities present within this growing and important industry. This program exposes students to the inner workings of a variety of specific tourism based industries with the intent of clarifying both the question of how these operations function and why they are integral components of our communities.
The AIT program involves up to 20 high school students in an intense five-day exploration of many leading tourism facilities within the beautiful Okanagan Valley. During their packed program, participants will be given unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to the inner workings of a wide array of some of Canada’s leading destination resorts, golf clubs, wineries and First Nations’ attractions. The students will also be treated to the very best hospitality; being welcomed into Rotarian homes for the duration of their stay.
